Every interconnector between Great Britain and its neighbours
Great Britain is joined to the grids around it by 10 interconnectors with 11,795 MW of capacity between them: three to France, three to Ireland, one to Belgium, one to Denmark, one to the Netherlands, one to Norway. The capacities are the ones in Elexon’s register, which is the figure the market uses. The routes and landing points come from OpenStreetMap, where each cable is mapped as a named submarine cable, as of 31 August 2026.
Every cable can carry power either way. The dashboard reads Elexon’s flow on each of them every half hour, shows which way it is running and how hard against its capacity, and the net of all of them, with storage, is the Imports figure at the top of the page. Moyle lands in Northern Ireland, which runs on the single electricity market with Ireland rather than on the Great Britain transmission system, which is why it counts as an interconnector rather than an internal circuit. Route length is the length of the cable as OpenStreetMap draws it and span is the straight line between its ends; IFA and ElecLink look short because OpenStreetMap holds only their near-shore segments, not the mid-Channel run.

The live flow on every cable is drawn on the map at the top of the dashboard, together with the grids at the other end of them. How the routes were found is under How this works.
